The armed, taunting drama at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge continues as self-proclaimed and well armed “American Patriots” begin what so far has been a one-way conversation with the world beyond their occupied compound 50 miles southeast of Burns.
In the following video, the militants invite all those of like minds to come to the wildlife refuge headquarters and join them in drawing a line in the sand that the U.S. Government is an oppressor and must be stopped. Those invited to come are reminded to “bring your arms.”
Here’s more from The Oregonian. There is a short cartoon advertisement before the video. Click here.
Here is another video made by another “patriot” who clearly reveals their group’s justification for their protests and for the occupation of the refuge. It’s also a clear indication that he expects to die and never see his family again.
This all started late last week in Burns when Burns area father-son ranchers, Dwight and Steven Hammond, were ordered back to prison by a judge who determined that their earlier time behind bars was not long enough for having been convicted of arson for setting backfires against an oncoming wildfire that threatened their leased grazing lands and private livestock facilities. it’s the prevailing opinion in these parts of the West that the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has forced cattle ranchers off public grazing lands in connection with efforts to restore endangered or threatened species of wildlife. The opinion also prevails against the U.S. Forest Service and the BLM for limiting logging operations throughout the West on lands that do not belong to the government but to “the people.”
