Word spread very quickly throughout Toledo about last night’s traffic accident on 101 near the South Beach Market in Newport. Friends and family are already grieving the loss of a good friend to many – Jack Stevenson.
Jack worked for many years as a mechanic for Leeway Logging based in Toledo. They say he was always there for his family (the Chavarrias) and for his friends. They say he was a kind, loving individual who always lit up the room. In fact, in his last act of friendship and caring, he jumped out of a friend’s pickup, despite the darkness and pouring rain, to run back and retrieve a tote that had fallen out onto 101 near the South Beach Market. An oncoming SUV hit him – mortally injuring him.
Friends say he died at 12:03am Tuesday morning at the trauma center in Corvallis.
Memorial Services are pending.
