Unconfirmed reports state the subject, an older male, was attempting to gather a basket of clothing that had fallen out of a friend’s truck when he was hit by a vehicle going southbound on 101. One person driving around the accident scene said there was accident debris over a 50 foot area and that the vehicle that hit the man had considerable front end damage. He said after paramedics loaded the victim into an ambulance it roared off, red lights and sirens, for what will hopefully be a fast-enough trip to the trauma center in Corvallis to give the badly injured victim a fighting chance.
