With all the rain and soggy ground going on for what seems like weeks on end, it finally took its toll in not only Newport but also to the north in Clackamas County. There, a great many apartment dwellers – not homeowners – who were forced from their apartments by a landslide and suddenly found themselves on the street with no where to go.
But Clackamas County and other agencies quickly mobilized and began to create, if not a temporary safety net, but something close to it. Also guidance on what to do next and to help them do it so they can get their lives back to normal.
