From Lincoln City Police

Last evening at about 8:08 PM, Lincoln City Police responded to a reported single vehicle crash in the area of NE 22nd Street and West Devils Lake Road. The 911 call was from a passenger in the involved vehicle who reported the car was off the roadway and down a gully into a wooded area.

Upon Officers arrival they located a silver, 2005 Chevrolet Malibu four door laying on its drivers side, over the embankment on the east side of West Devils Lake Road. The vehicle had struck a large tree before landing about 40 feet down the embankment.

Officers located two occupants inside the vehicle, an adult female driver and a thirteen year old male passenger. Both subjects were trapped inside the vehicle. North Lincoln Fire & Rescue and Pacific West Ambulance personnel had arrived on scene and began extricating the occupants from the vehicle. The thirteen year old male passenger was extricated first and was immediately taken by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The adult female driver, identified as 38 year-old Jennifer N. Mclean of Lincoln City, had sustained extensive injuries as a result of the crash. Once she was extricated from the vehicle, she was immediately transported by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital, however she was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east bound on NE 22nd Street when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of West Devils Lake Road. The Chevrolet continued across West Devils Lake Road and into the wooded area where it struck a large tree before going over the embankment.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, but at this time there are no indications of a crime occurring. Alcohol use is not believed to be a contributing factor in the cause of the crash and the driver was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. If you have any information regarding the crash you are asked to contact the Lincoln City Police Department at 541-994-3636.
