The heavy rains and big tides plus plumbing problems have seriously damaged the water system for the Cascade Head Ranch Homeowners Association. They’re located at the mouth of the Salmon River and they’re watching surf come up river and literally break up against their properties.
Meanwhile a water line ruptured and completely drained their tanks of all domestic water. The tanks are dry. 86 households are without water. So the association is switching from pipes to bottled water. And that includes the Sitka Center for Art.
All owners have been notified. Bottled drinking water and sanitation stations have been provided.
The association hopes to restore water to the system within the next three days. They say even after the repairs it will not be safe to drink the system water without boiling it until all lab tests come back “OK.”
