The Lincoln City Warming Shelter now has TWO emergency shelters for the homeless this winter season. One is located on the north end of town at the Congregational Church, NW 25th behind Kenny’s IGA. The south emergency shelter site is the Old Firehouse on SE 48th (Taft District) behind Sport and Imports Repair and Shuckers.
Emergency shelter sites will open when weather is at a pre-determined temperature near freezing. You can find out about openings by postings around town that say the emergency shelters are “open”, or you can call the emergency shelter hotline at 206-713-8234.
Volunteers are still very much needed to assist with staffing of emergency sheltera when opened. Interested persons should call the Volunteer Coordinator, JoFrances Calk at 206-713-8234, or write the warming shelter in care of P.O. Box 198, Lincoln City (97367).
OH! One more thing….
For those wishing to make clothing donations (sleeping bags, heavy insulated jackets, gloves, socks, rain gear) to the Lincoln City Warming Shelter for distribution to the homeless, you may drop off your donations at the Posh Wash Laundromat, located across from the self-serve car wash and across the street from City Hall in Lincoln City. Susan Nelson will receive donations for the shelter project and insure donations get to proper shelter operational staff for distribution. Providing your name and address will also allow the Shelter staff to write you a “thank you” with the tax deductible IRS number.
Your generosity is appreciated.
