President Obama gives the U.S.’s highest civilian award to daughter of Japanese American, an Oregonian
President Obama Tuesday gave a posthumous award to the daughter of a Japanese American AND Oregonian, who protested vigorously against Japanese interment camps set up to sequester Japanese Americans during World War II.
The President called Minoru Yasui’s civil rights battle during. World War II “a call to our national conscience.”
