COMPUTER CLASSES AT NEWPORT PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Newport Public Library will offer the following free classes during the month of December.
· “Beginning and Intermediate Excel” (2013) will be taught on Wednesday, December 2 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The first class teaches the basics of creating a spreadsheet and adding rows and columns. “Intermediate Excel” teaches how to balance a checkbook, use multiple worksheets, and create charts.
· “Basic Internet” will be taught on Friday, December 4 at 9:00 a.m. This class teaches how to use a web browser and search the internet. At 10:00 a.m., Advanced Google Searching will be offered, which will teach some of the shortcuts built into google searches.
· On Saturday, December 5, Beginning PowerPoint will be offered at 11:00 a.m.. This class teaches how to create slides, add images and text, and add special effects to a slideshow.
· On Friday, December 11 at 9:00 a.m., Introduction to Evernote will be taught. . This class shows how to get organized by keeping track of lists, notes, websites, and more. At 10:00 a.m. Introduction to Twitter is offered. This class will introduce students to setting up an account, following users, and posting “tweets.”
All classes are free, and registration is required. Library staff also offer one-on-one tutorials, for up to 60 minutes. You can call the library to “Book a Librarian” if you have questions about Microsoft software, library resources, or general computer or tablet use.
