A High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service this evening for the Central Oregon coast and Coast Range, which is in effect from 11:00pm to 7:00am Thursday. South to southwest winds 25-40 mph with gusts 55-60 mph. The strongest winds will be along the beaches and headlands and in the higher terrain of the Coast Range. The strongest winds are expected from 1:00am to 5:00am Thursday. The wind may be strong enough to damage trees and cause power disruptions. Highly saturated soil from heavy rain earlier this week may make trees more susceptible to damage than they normally would be. Cross winds on area bridges could create problems for high profile vehicles. A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
