When veterans seeks the medicinal benefits of medical marijuana, their doctors at the VA can talk to them about it, but they can’t prescribe it. Meanwhile, 23 states now authorize marijuana as a medicine that relieves many physical and psychological complications from PTSD, exposure to Agent Orange and other ailments – some war caused – some not.
Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley and others have introduced legislation allowing VA doctors, in those 23 states, to prescribe medical marijuana which means the vet wouldn’t have to go to an expensive private doctor to get the same piece of paper.
The legislation has passed the Senate but it’s bumped up against the Republican controlled House.
