McDonald’s Restaurant in Newport has suffered a fryer fire that has caused the restaurant to be closed through about 10am this morning. That’s when they say they should be back open. However nothing on the menu that requires frying will be available until they get the damaged fryer repaired or replaced.
The fire was quickly extinguished by employees with a fire extinguisher and there were no injuries. Fire Chief Rob Murphy says the fire appeared to involve a housekeeping issue and that he and management had a conversation about it.
