A utility relocation side-project has caused Highway 20 to be reduced to one lane of travel regulated by flaggers west of Eddyville. The work is going on during daylight hours Monday through Friday. The lane restrictions are expected to last until Tuesday, December 1st.
A contractor is boring below ground and trenching for placement of electric and communications lines between milepost 15.8 and 16.3. The work will be done during weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Travelers should expect delays of no longer than 20 minutes – considerably less in most cases.
The utility relocation is in preparation for the next phase of construction of the US 20 Project which will create a new highway alignment in Fall of next year. The new highway route will replace 10 miles of narrow, twisting old Hwy 20 with a new 5.5 mile segment that will be straighter, with wider shoulders and increased passing opportunities.
