A public poll taken by Public Broadcasting shows that Americans want renewed emphasis on mental health intervention as a way to reduce gun violence.
It’s safe to say that those mowing down innocent victims with semi-automatic weapons obviously had a mental health issue – some with a long history of it. But only a small percentage were under the care of a therapist or psychiatrist which begs the question – how do you intervene when you don’t know who’s about to go nuts with a gun? How do you keep guns away from troubled, unbalanced people?
