With a hefty donation from caring citizens going to breast cancer awareness for every touchdown Taft High scored, it was beginning to look like the Tigers might fund enough research for a cure of the dreadful disease Friday in a 60-0 West Valley League homecoming victory over Willamina.
Tyler Fisher scored three of Taft’s nine touchdowns, and Rylan Fisher and Trent Daniels two each on top of two defensive scores to position the Tigers for a league showdown next week against Dayton and a return trip and possible home game in the Class 3A State playoffs.
“Breast cancer is a terrible thing, and I’m glad we can help aid those people and find a cure for all kinds of cancer,” Taft senior linebacker Zane Troutt said. “This is just one small step. If every team in the league could do something like this and get that many touchdowns, that’s a step in the right direction.”
