New Air Charter Service Available in Newport:
Devinaire Enables Travel Across the West On Demand
Info from Devinaire Air Charter Service
Devinaire, an established air charter service with bases of operation in Portland and Seattle, now offers the fastest way to travel between the central Oregon Coast and inland destinations. Operated by Robert Walker, Devinaire currently provides two planes for on-demand air charters, with a third plane expected to join the fleet later this fall.
Devinaire’s King Air, a nine-passenger plane, is the largest turboprop being operated for on-demand charter flights in the Portland area. Devinaire also operates a twin-engine Cessna 340, which can seat five passengers. Both the King Air and the Cessna offer club seating, to facilitate productive meetings, or socializing, in flight.
“Air charter ideally suits the region,” says Walker. “A four-hour drive from Portland to Newport can be replaced by a flight that takes less than an hour, giving visitors more time to enjoy the coast, and offering residents and businesses a means to efficiently connect with the rest of the state.”
Devinaire’s planes are pressurized, all-weather aircraft, designed for regional business travel. In most cases passengers can carry as much or more luggage than they would on a commercial flight and no more than a few minutes are spent between arriving at the airport and departing in the plane.
“Newport Municipal Airport is one of the few airports on the Oregon Coast with precision instrument approaches that allow continued operations even on foggy days,” says Walker. “When a flight is booked with us into or out of Newport, we know we can meet our customers’ needs, whatever the weather or time of year.”
Lance Vanderbeck, City of Newport Airport Operations Manager adds, “Devinaire will provide a great option for expanded air service. They are a welcomed addition to the Newport Municipal Airport, providing a convenient air travel option.”
Pricing for air charter trips is per aircraft rather than per seat. Devinaire quotes prices upon request but suggests that the most economical routes will be between Newport and Hillsboro Airport in Portland and Newport and Boeing Field in Seattle as these airports are bases of operation for the company.
Walker believes that there is strong call for on-demand turboprop charter service in the Newport area. “It’s a great location with a lot of recreational, business, and governmental activity,” he says. “We are excited to be offering a new option for travel in this region.”
Walker is also the owner of Direct Avia, an aircraft maintenance facility located at the Hillsboro Airport.
