A vehicle has gone off the edge of Highway 101 a quarter mile south of Windy Way and down a 40 foot embankment. The driver managed to get out of the car and maneuver to a spot next to a lot of blackberries. She was then helped back up to the road by Good Samaritans.
Witnesses say the Jeep slid on a tight curve in the road about a quarter mile south of Windy Way. The Jeep slid across both lanes then the driver over-corrected and slid back across both lanes and went over the side and down a 50 foot ravine. Jeep landed on its wheels and the driver managed to pull herself out. Witnesses then helped her up to the road.
Yachats Fire Chief Frankie Petrick says the car is being pulled back up to the road by a tow truck.
