Clean Water Newport is hosting a community meeting on the fluoridation question before city council at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30 at the Public Utilities District on 2129 N. Coast Highway in Newport.
The meeting will feature the Oregon premiere of the new 20-minute video on fluoridation, Our Daily Dose, by film-maker Jeremy Seifert. The video, scheduled to be released nationwide in October, features historic film footage, interviews with leading medical authorities and updates on the latest scientific research.
In 2010, Seifert completed his debut film, DIVE! Living Off America’s Waste. Initially made with a $200 budget and a borrowed camera, DIVE! went on to win 22 film festivals worldwide. His second film, GMO OMG, released nationwide in 2013, was a journey in search of answers about genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and how they affect children, the environment and our freedom of choice. It premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and has also won several awards.
Dr. Susan Andersen, a Newport naturopathic physician and chair of Clean Water Newport, will host the meeting. Rick North, former director of the Oregon American Cancer Society, will also make a brief presentation and lead a question and answer session with the audience.
The Newport city council is scheduled to vote on fluoridation at its October 19 meeting.
The event, along with other information on fluoridation, is posted on Clean Water Newport’s Facebook page.
