Minimum wage boosters begin gathering voter petition signatures to put $15/hour minimum wage on November 16th ballot.
Backers of raising Oregon’s minimum wage to $15/hr by 2019 have begun gathering voter petition signatures. They must collect over 88,000 voter signatures by July 1st of next year to qualify for the November 2016 election. The move was triggered by state labor officials deciding that the cost of living has not gone up enough over the past year to kick the minimum wage up a little higher. Current it’s at $9.25/hour.
