On Saturday, members of the community got together for some good food and entertainment despite the annual Salmon Bake having to be cancelled due to fire danger. Those salmon cookers put out a lot of sparks. Our inspiration for a fire-less community picnic came from an idea and evolved into a great event!
Those who came from long distances for a Salmon Bake were thrilled that we had the picnic.
Comments like: It was nice to come to hot dogs and not an empty park and that we cared enough to consider our visitors. Those people were pleased and will be back! So, the decision to have the picnic was the right and best decision for the community.
We had about 125 attend.
We added a 50/50 raffle and raised $162 for the Community Fund.
Also, got $54 in donations that our visitors wanted to be used for the 2016 Salmon Bake and we didn’t even ask for any!
