Lincoln County Schools had a ‘woops’ moment…actually moments (plural) that they say they’re working on – making sure kids get home on time. School District officials say they had more children to bus home yesterday than they anticipated, where they lived – and, for some, it was the first time some children had ridden a bus. And for some drivers, it was the first time they’d driven their routes. The situation was further complicated by the first day launch of all-day kindergarten and the re-opening of Yaquina View School.
Result: Some kids got home much later than expected. Officials say they’re scrambling to get the schedules down in more detail – right down to the individual student. Officials say the first day of school is always a bit unwieldy but quickly added that every child got home. Just later than what will be the normal time.
