Another Lincoln County man has been jailed after a lengthy investigation of child pornography. Officers showed up at the home of John Lorentz Wiegardt III of Depoe Bay, armed with a search warrant. They were after his computer on which they found child pornography.
Such investigations typically begin with the arrest of another viewer of child pornography or someone who is engaged in producing child pornography. Because the U.S. has so many sexually dysfunctional customers of such pornography the mere fact they view it and are willing to pay for it, fuels the “child pornography industry.” So those guilty of sexual child abuse don’t have to actually engage children in sexual acts – all they have to do is buy the pictures and videos. The act of purchasing or even just looking at those pictures and videos is against the law because being a customer of an illegal product makes the viewer a part of the overall crime of child abuse.
Wiegardt is being held in the Lincoln County Jail in lieu of a million dollars bail. Prison sentences for these kinds of crimes range generally from five to ten years.
