The City of Newport is seeking two citizens interested in serving on the Planning Advisory Committee for the Airport Master Plan update. This Committee is charged with helping to guide the development of an Airport Master Plan update by providing the public perspective.
The draft Airport Master Plan update must be completed and submitted to the FAA by January of 2017. The Committee will meet five times during the next 18 months to participate in visioning discussions, verify assumptions, and to provide review and comment on chapter drafts. There will also be an opportunity for Committee members to participate in public open houses to share insights on the role of the airport with the community.
Anyone interested in serving on this committee should apply using the city’s committee application which is found on the city website at www.newportoregon.gov; click on “City;” then on “Committees;” and then on “Application for Committee/Commission.” The completed form can be submitted electronically. The Mayor will appoint members to the Planning Advisory Committee, subject to City Council ratification, at the City Council meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 6:00 P.M., at City Hall, 169 SW Coast Highway, Newport.
