Because he no longer lives in the city council district he ran from, due to his moving out of it, Lincoln City City Councilman Jim Davis has resigned from the city council. Davis thanked the community for electing him but he pointed to the Lincoln City City Charter as requiring anyone who no longer lives in the city ward from which a candidate ran for city council, that person is no longer legally allowed to serve as a councilor from that district.
Under the city charter, the council can wait until the new election cycle to replace Mr. Davis, or the council can appoint a successor to the seat. Since the seat would be vacant for the better part of three years, the council will likely appoint a replacement for Mr. Davis.
We’ll see what they do.
