An algae freak of nature or more signs of global climate change?
Call it an undocumented freak of nature or perhaps something closely associated with Global Climate Change (Global Warming), the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration is noting with alarm the growing spread of an ocean-going algae bloom that has spread from the Aleutian Islands near Russia to the sunny sandy beaches of Southern California. And it’s causing big problems for shellfish gatherers and raising fear among scientists who are afraid that the ocean’s food chain from phytoplankton on up could well have big effects on every fishery in the sea.
