From Toledo Police Chief David Enyeart
The Toledo Police Department is participating in a statewide Texting and Speed Enhanced Enforcement during the weeks of August 24th through September 6th. Toledo Police Officers will be focused on educating the public on the importance of safe driving practices through education and enforcement.
The Toledo Police Department wants to remind the citizens of Lincoln County that distracted driving (such as using your cell phone) can have the same effect as driving while intoxicated. Distracted drivers often do not maintain their lane and react slowly to the rapidly changing environment which can cause serious accidents. No text message or phone call is worth causing an accident where someone can be seriously injured or killed.
Toledo Police Department’s Texting and Speed Enhance Enforcements is made possible by the 2015 Safety Belt Overtime Enforcement Program Grant generously given by the Oregon Department of Transportation Safety Division.
