Live the Legend Again… or for the first time!
Whether you are a longtime lover of Johnny Cash or just wonder why that name seems to come up so often, you’ll want to be at the NEW Lincoln County Fair on Saturday night for a concert experience you’ll never forget. As close as you can get to Johnny and June themselves, Jimmie Ray and Cyndi Cantrell join their band Black Train to take you back in time for a Tribute to the Life and Legend of Johnny Cash. The adventure begins at 8:30 pm, Saturday, August 15, on the main stage at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds – FOR FREE!
This multimedia showcase is modeled after Johnny and June’s famous 1994 tour and explores The Man, The Music, and The Memories. Jimmie Ray and Cyndi, well-known on stages in Vegas and throughout the West, take the audience through six decades of Johnny’s career, covering many of his hits as well as several lesser known songs that bring this autobiographical concert to life. You will not only enjoy the music but get a real sense of what the songs meant to Johnny at the time he wrote and sang them.
Fans around the world were deeply saddened to lose both Johnny and June in 2003, with films such as Walk the Line and record-setting sales of CDs and videos a testimony that the legend lives on. Far beyond the typical retrospective, this stage show honors both their lives, with Cyndi offering moving contributions as June Carter Cash as well as other key players of their time. (You may even be treated to a cameo from Patsy Cline!)
Don’t miss your chance to live the legend for yourself at the NEW Lincoln County Fair, August 15, 8:30 pm on the main stage. Admission to the Fair and all Concerts is free. For more information, please visit www.TheLincolnCountyFair.com or contact OSU Extension Lincoln County.
