“EXPLORING THE OREGON COAST TRAIL”
THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 6:30 PM
The Yachats Academy of Arts and Sciences is pleased to present Connie Soper on Thursday, August 13, 6:30 PM at the Yachats Commons. Connie has just written a book, “Exploring the Oregon Coast Trail.”
Connie Soper first visited Oregon’s beaches when living as a child in Coos Bay, and has loved them ever since. She has twice hiked the Oregon Coast trail in its entirety with friends and family
Connie’s book, “Exploring the Oregon Coast Trail: 40 consecutive Day Hikes from the Columbia River to the California Border,” will be available at her presentation. The Oregon Coast Trail spans nearly 400 miles with over half of those miles on Oregon’s public beaches. Those walking the trail will experience the majesty of Oregon’s beaches in personal and immediate ways, and are certain to better appreciate the open access to our shores, a privilege not possible in most other coastal states. Connie’s presentation will focus on the trail itself, and how to hike it. In addition, she will feature stories about places passed through along the way. Who was Matt Kramer? Which lighthouse became the columbarium? How did the Hollering Place get its name? Her presentation weaves together a unique hiking experience with a better understanding of the history, personalities and places that make the Oregon Coast so special.
There is no admission charge for this presentation. A $5 donation will help cover publicity expenses. Additional information is available at YachatsAcademy.org, GoYachats.com/events or by calling 541-961-6695
