A Newport man, convicted of vehicular manslaughter that claimed the life of a Springfield man last April, has been sent to prison for just over six years. Ivan Cruz, with a seven year old boy in his sport utility vehicle crossed over the center line of Highway 20 just west of Cline Hill and hit a Honda sedan head-on. Andrew Koloski, 35, of Springfield was killed instantly. Cruz was also injured and was taken to a trauma center in Corvallis. His 7 year old male passenger was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
In addition to his six year prison term, Cruz will also be on post prison supervision for 3 years after his released.
