A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for abundant lightning from this evening to 11:00am Sunday. This replaces the Fire Weather Watch previously in effect. The affected area includes the Central Oregon Coast. The greatest threat of abundant lightning is later tonight through tomorrow morning. The combination of abundant lightning and unseasonable and critically dry fuels may challenge initial attack capabilities for any new fire starts. Some increase in relative humidity is expected tomorrow, but more very warm, dry and unstable weather is likely next week especially away from the immediate coast. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of the above conditions will create explosive fire growth potential.
