Governor/Democratic leadership scramble to get roads/highway bill approved – could mean gutting clean fuels bill already approved
The gloves are coming off at the state legislature. Stung by being stream-rolled by democrats on clean fuels, republican lawmakers and a few fence sitting democrats are holding the state’s much needed $200 million roads and highways maintenance bill hostage in the House. And the speculation about how Governor Brown will engineer it all is running rampant. It’s her first test of leadership since she took over from a disgraced Governor Kitzhaber earlier this year.
