Oregon job growth stagnated and then fell a bit during the month of May – bumping the state’s unemployment rate to 5.3%, up from April’s 5.2. Top state officials say they’re not concerned because the market is making some adjustments as the economy re-organizes itself into a more efficient overall structure. Construction still remains very strong, along with health care and business services.

A new trend in the Oregon Workforce: The “Silver Tsunami.” Older folks with Great Recession damaged or reduced pensions are being forced to re-enter the workforce in any way they can.
