Taft High senior Pete Lahti has been named first-team all-Oregon Class 3A catcher in a vote of representatives of the classification’s six leagues.
Lahti, a first-team all-state quarterback who was the Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year, hit .500 for the Tigers while reaching base more than 60 percent of nearly 100 plate appearances. He threw out multiple runners in numerous games and was generally regarded as the league outstanding defensive player.
Taft freshman Caleb King, who was one of the Tigers’ most formidable pitchers,. was an honorable mention selection in the outfield. King hit .385.
