InHouse Jazz continues its summer offerings of jazz performances at local residences on the Central Coast – Jazz as it was meant to be enjoyed with top performers in a laid back setting in a private home with fellow jazz lovers.
All InHouse Concerts are from 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM on Sunday afternoons, every month from April to September. The INHOUSE JAZZ atmosphere is informal; providing an opportunity for audiences to enjoy an intimate concert, free from the noise and distractions often associated with a restaurant or bar. There is no charge for these sessions, but a donation of $15 – $30 is suggested to cover concert costs.
Any funds collected beyond expenses are donated in support of local arts and education. The audience is encouraged to bring their own beverages and potluck treats. All interested in attending should RSVP360-606-7136 or email Annie at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to each concert.
The third concert of the season will be Sunday afternoon June 14 at a private residence in Siletz and will feature two Portland musicians who have been musical partners for many years; pianist Steve Christofferson and saxophonist David Evans.
Pianist Steve Christofferson performs in clubs and jazz festivals around the world. He is best known for accompanying Grammy nominated vocalist Nancy King. He toured Europe with the Alan Jones Sextet, and performed in China with Mia Nicholson. He’s worked with Jim Pepper, Kurt Elling, Karrin Allyson and many others. Steve plays piano with exemplary depth and warmth, and creates his signature sound by doubling on melodica, which he makes a surprisingly poignant tool for improvisation as well as for lead lines. Christofferson lays down graceful chord structures on piano, filling in atmospheric washes or subtly funky solos, thickening the tonal palette with the melodica’s distinctive blend of innocence and yearning.
