Kids’ Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 6, 8am-Noon at Salmon River Hatchery, Otis and Olalla Reservoir north of Toledo
Kids’ Free Fishing Day will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 6, at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Otis and the Olalla Reservoir near Toledo.
Sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the Lincoln City Recreation Department, the annual event is a fun day for youngsters and adults alike.
The free fishing will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Salmon River Hatchery and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Olalla Reservoir.
Kids will fish in the hatchery holding pond and can keep their limit of trout! Prizes will be awarded for different categories, including the longest fish, biggest fish, best cast and more.
Some fishing poles will be provided, but supplies are limited. Plenty of volunteers will be on hand to help kids bait their hooks and land those trophy fish.
After noon, adults can fish for free, too, as part of ODFW’s free fishing weekend (no licenses required).
Kids’ Free Fishing Day is for children who are old enough to hold a fishing pole, up to age 14. You must pre-register at the Lincoln City Community Center. Call 994-2131 or stop by the center at 2150 N.E Oar Place.
The Salmon River Fish Hatchery is located at 575 N. North Bank Road in Otis.
