A group of state lawmakers have been trying to craft a bill that would get bi-partisan support for at least five days a year of paid sick leave for Oregon workers. But they can’t get the bill on to the floor of the Senate for an up or down vote. And Senate leadership is not talking to the news media about it.
Political conventional wisdom would indicate that with democratic majorities in both houses the chances would be pretty good that Oregon would become the fourth state in the country to require paid sick days – in this case – just five days a year.
