8:24pm- Chevron gas station operator called 9-1-1 to report propane gas is leaking into the air, hissing to rushing, and back to hissing. Evacuated. Fire department is very close by.
Law enforcement is blocking off access to the area. Highway still sounds like it’s open.
8:35pm- Wind is blowing 10mph…so whatever gas is leaking, it’s being dispersed somewhat. Wind out of the northwest at 10mph…so the gas is being blown straight down 101 to the south.
8:36pm- Crews realize that the propane tank wouldn’t shut off properly so special tools had to be brought in. An hour later the tank was shut off the emergency was over. No doubt that the tank will be given a thorough going over and/or replacement in the next day or two.
