Lincoln City Police say Taft Elementary received a phone this afternoon from a person who threatened to harm students and to him/herself. At that point Lincoln City Police, with the assistance of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police surrounded Oceanlake, Taft Elementary and Taft High. The School District locked all three schools down as a precaution. Police say they’re investigating the origin of the call in an effort to track down who made it. Meanwhile law enforcement made constant perimeter checks around the three schools to ensure the safety of the children and staff inside. Thus far, nothing found.
By 4:35pm all three schools were cleared and children were allowed to go home.
Anyone having even an inkling of who could have been behind the threatening phone call should call Lincoln City Police at 541-994-3636.
