Despite telling his fellow congressmen on the floor of the U.S. House this week that medical marijuana has a good track record in combating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for veterans, among a number of other veteran illnesses and conditions, and that it could take the place of a lot of high risk addictive drugs VA hospitals are giving veterans for those conditions, a vote to legalize medical marijuana for VA hospital prescriptions none-the-less failed again – but this time by only by three votes. Last year the margin of denial was 31 votes.
So Blumenauer is both disappointed but also optimistic that reason and scientific data are slowly winning minds in the House.
