House Bill 3093, which legalizes cross-state line carrying of a gun by those who have a license for it, passed the House in Salem Thursday. This bill would provide reciprocity for individuals from other states who also have
a valid concealed handgun license (CHL) permit from another state to legally carry in Oregon, as well as provide for reciprocity for Oregon residents carrying in other states.
“I have heard from hundreds of Oregonians asking us, the Legislature, to protect their Second Amendment rights,” said Rep. Bill Post (R-Keizer). “I
thnk this bill is a step in the right direction. HB 3093 is a common-sense bill that would cut through bureaucracy and allow ordinary law-abiding citizens from across the country to easily comply with Oregon law. If a registered licensed driver can drive across any state line in their vehicle, why can’t a properly licensed CHL holder legally bring their firearm across state lines?”
HB 3093 has not traveled to the Senate where it is awaiting first reading and possible assignment to a committee.
