Caleb King pitches the final three innings of shutout ball for Taft in a 4-1 defeat against No. 1-ranked Santiam Christian.
Senior catcher Pete Lahti drove home Taft’s only run with the team’s only hit in the first inning Tuesday and Santiam Christian starter Daniel Hendrix went the distance for a 4-1 West Valley League road victory in a battle of two of the state’s top-four rated teams.
Taft managed only a double by Lahti and freshman starter Jack Stempel surrendered a run in the first inning and three in the fourth as the fourth-rated Tigers fell to 13-6 overall and 5-3 in league play with the loss to the No. 1-ranked Eagles (14-2, 8-0).
