It looks like the big showdown is next week on the floor of the Oregon House of Representatives on whether what’s called a “loop hole” in Oregon’s gun sale background check regulations will be closed. Background checks will be required, regardless except for guns transferred within a family.
Those in favor of closing the gap in background checks contend it only makes sense to close it based on the extent to which all other gun sale transactions are subject to the checks. Those in opposition contend that “bad guys” will always find a way to get their hands on a gun, no matter what and that the move by Oregon Democrats to tighten requirements is a thinly veiled attempt to repeal the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
