I have lived in Waldport for the past seven years, with my family. I have been married to my husband Ron, for twenty years. We have two children. We love our community and are proud to call Waldport home.
I am excited to be on the Lincoln County School Board representing zone five. My objective is to do what is best for our students and our schools. Being on the school board is a great opportunity for me to ensure our schools are getting the best of what is available. I think it is important to have a voice of a parent with school children on our board. I have two children who attend school in Waldport. I am always in our schools. This allows me to see first-hand the challenges, struggles, and successes that take place within our schools. I believe it is important to have positive relationships with our school staff, students, and parents. Being a parent of current students allows me to build these relationships easily.
I look forward to working with my fellow board members to create guidelines and policies that will continue to improve our school district. Not every decision made will be a popular one. We have some very talented people on the school board who put our students and their education first, and I am excited to be part of that.
I am an involved parent at Waldport High School. I serve on the board of the Waldport Irish Boosters. I promote our athletic teams with pictures and social media. I am the secretary for the “Parents of the Senior Class”, a non-profit group that is raising money for our seniors’ graduation trip. I serve on Waldport High School’s Site Council. I enjoy working with the staff and students and creating goals for our school. I help with dances, pass out sports schedules, chaperone field trips, and volunteer wherever I am needed. I am very passionate about our schools and seeing our students become successful.
My husband and I have owned our business in Waldport for the last seven years. I work endlessly with budgets, profit and loss statements, contracts, vendors, and personnel. Customer service, diffusing situations, working with people and reaching common goals are constants in owning a business. I believe these skills are important for a board member to have. I am an ethical person, have great listening skills, and I am a strong team player.
I am running for school board so that I may continue serving our schools, students, and communities.
