National Walking Day Community Walk – April 1
These days, we’re spending more time at work and sitting in front of a screen than ever before. We’re becoming less active, which can increase our risk of heart disease, stroke and other diseases.
Wednesday, April 1, is designated by the American Heart Association as National Walking Day. On this day, Americans are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and take time out of their day to get up and walk.
To celebrate National Walking Day, the Newport Walking Club, sponsored by the Newport Parks and Recreation Department, is inviting everyone to join them for a walk on the beach. Meet at Don Davis Park at 5:15 pm and walk to the north jetty and back (approximately 3 miles). All are welcome and the walk will proceed, regardless of the weather. Dogs must be on a leash and owners are responsible for controlling their dogs and cleaning up after them. For more information, please call Lori at 541-264-0751.
