Anti-union forces are refocusing their attention on Oregon where they intend to weaken unions in Oregon just like they did in Wisconsin and 24 other states.
By convincing Oregon voters to take a swing at higher paid union workers, state law would allow new hires to receive the same wages as union workers while not having to pay union dues. It’s a spike through the heart of any reason to join a union. Union officials say over time such tactics weaken unions to where their effectiveness as tough negotiators for higher wages and better benefits, slowly fades away. In the long run, employees wind up working much harder for the same or even declining wages than what they would have received had the union not been run out of the workplace.
