Despite a concerted push by republicans in the state legislature, Oregon’s Clean Low Carbon Fuels Standard bill was renewed this week in Salem. It was quickly sent to Governor Brown where she signed the bill into law.
But the political fall-out has been vehement and loud from conservative republicans. House Minority Leader and Powell Butte Representative Mike McLane said his party is upset at the move, which he claims will needlessly push up gas prices precisely at the same time democrats want to bolster state spending on roads, highways and bridges which will entail a gas tax increase. A double whammy.
