The Oregonian has just released a story that former Governor John Kitzhaber appointed a state-paid forestry advisor who still continued to run his own private forestry consulting and arbitraging firm on the side. The Oregonian reports it’s a similar financial relationship Kitzhaber had with his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, who advised him on environmental concerns while being paid by firms that were heavily influencing green-economy policy in the governor’s office.
Soonafter Kitzhaber’s resignation, new Governor Kate Brown said no one on her staff will work outside jobs on the side related to projects they’re working on with her office.
