Another Nye Beach Murder Mystery!!
Next month there will be yet another murder performed on the streets of Nye Beach in Newport – and local businesses will all be quite happy about it.
March 14 is the date for this year’s Nye Beach Murder Mystery Weekend, as locals will stage a murder and visitors will investigate “who dunnit.” Each year, around 100 people gather in the historic district of this coastal town, collecting clues from various businesses and asking questions of actors and suspects dressed in period garb.
This year’s mystery is “The Haunted Trailer,” taking place in 1978. It centers on the murder of Indi Cent, a resident of the 10 Commandments Mobile Village who is found dead in the arms of her boyfriend, Robin Steele.
The swirling, if not whirling scurrilous who-done-it plays out on the streets of Nye Beach as curious members of the public pay $10 for a sleuthy packet of directions to help them solve the dastardly crime.
Packets may be picked up between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Nye Cottage, 208 NW Coast Street, Nye Beach. Clues are then collected from local businesses until 5 p.m. The public will interrogate suspects at participating clue locations from noon until 5 p.m. Participants then turn in “solutions” of who, when, why, how by 5 p.m. Saturday at Nye Cottage. Saturday, 7 p.m. the big reveal will take place at the American Legion 424 West Olive Street, Newport, where Inspector Fillmore Cells will name the murderer – and award the prizes to the winning investigators.
See you down there March 14th! Happy sleuthing!!
