News Lincoln County is getting some concerns about the new sea lion dock on Newport’s Bayfront missing some parts – fears that the storm washed away part of it.
But Sea Lion Docks Foundation Director Bob Ward says the pieces of the dock were removed manually to make way for a pile driver that’s moving in to drive pilings down into the bay bottom as part of the construction of the new visitor overlook. The pilings must be in place no later than February 15th, the end of “in water workings” that last from November through part of February so as to not interfere or disrupt migrating salmon and other fish.
So the dock didn’t break. They’re just working to complete it.
