The view from the crossroads of Waldport
From Leslie Hohstadt – Chocolate Frog
Ahhh, February! The month for sweethearts, a time for planning vacation or thinking of spring fever. I choose all three. When it comes to sweethearts I think of Love. The four letter word that creates hope, you know the one that springs eternal? But love is in many different sizes, shapes, colors, and depth. Such as the love of our town Waldport. I think loving where you live is very important. We should think on that for a second or so. Did you know it takes love for your town to be in business? Love for your town to shop local? Love for your town to support and thereby build it from what once was to what could be?
Whether you involve yourself in a beach cleanup or make your purchases at the many small businesses you are showing love. So many of our small businesses here are locally owned and stocked. Even if they are corporate owned you are showing your love by shopping there as they are employed by our own community. We have restaurants making foods by local residents pouring their love into your meal. We have new young entrepreneurs putting their all into a new business showing their love for their town.
We have candy stores and specialty shops that carry local arts that show their love for their craft. We have so much here that shows love. Are you tired of the word love yet? It seems alot, I know, but its important to say it. Outloud. Spring is almost here and if we keep showing our local businesses the “local love” then everything can bloom beautifully!
See you in Waldport,
Leslie Hohstadt
